Our pastor began his ministry here in 1979. He was also employed with Bladen County and retired in 2007 after 34 years of service. In 1995 he left to pastor Myrtle Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church in Currie, NC; returning here in 1996. Myrtle Grove Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church is now New Beginnings Pentecostal Freewill Baptist Church.

He and his wife Sharon, have been married over 40 years. They have one daughter Melody Tatum Callihan, married to Chris Callihan. Melody and Chris have two children Topher and Charm. Pastor Tatum and Sharon are very dedicated to church and family. Sharon also serves as our church pianist. She and Pastor Tatum have based their life on service to the Lord; always helping people where a need arises.
